How to Get Involved
We invite you to get involved with your volunteer time, talents
and financial gifts. It’s as easy as falling off a log, and a
lot safer. Let us name the ways. Here are FIVE...
1. DONATE
Your donations are the engine that keeps this program moving forward. It may be the difference between a struggling Marine family having or not having a Thanksgiving or Christmas this year. See what a difference your compassion and your dollars can make and read the deep appreciation in the eyes of a child. We couldn’t do it without you. Send a check made out to “SCMFO” to 2001 Calle Frontera, San Clemente 92673, or go online at our website, www.militaryfamilyoutreach.com and use the DONATE button.
2. INVESTIGATE
Investigate opportunities by calling our office (space donated, by the way, by St. Andrew’s church) and ask what the current needs are. Maybe you could help out by assembling layettes for Marine wives who are expecting. Or display your dexterity by stuffing, stamping and sealing envelopes for a mailing. At various times of the year we see volunteers baking for the Variety Show Commissary Cafe, or putting up posters about town, or packaging and delivering school supplies to the San Onofre school when even the paper and pencil cupboards are bare. There are many ways you can help.
3. CELEBRATE
Celebrate by becoming part of the show. When we present the annual Variety Show, for instance, we have dozens of things you can do to help get it to center stage. Care to paint a set, hang a star, sell tickets, or decorate tables? Sponsor a table if you like! Proceeds all go to put turkeys and thanksgiving dinners on the tables of over 1,200 families. How many people can say they did that?
4. ACCELERATE your social networking skills.
Join our Facebook page and tell your friends about us.. Encourage them to tell others and to folllow the charity’s progress by becoming a Friend of SCMFO. Add your name to the e-mail list and we’ll keep you plugged in on activities and places you can contribute. Try something new. Break out of the quadrilateral parallelogram.
5 GRADUATE...
or help someone else graduate. Adopt a San Onofre school classroom and the grateful teacher will give you a list of the most critical supplies. You can fill the list and even deliver them to the classroom. Best of all, the notes of gratitude from the students are priceless. You may be helping a budding genius. We know you’ll be helping youself, and feeling good about it.
